Protein Domains
Protein Domains are conserved functional and structural units of a protein. Domains can serve specific function such as catalytic activity, subcellular targetting and binding. Furthermore, these specific function and interaction contribute to the overall role of a protein. Many proteins are composed of multiple domains and these domains can exist in a variety of biological contexts.

Pfam was used to see how BMPR2 is well conserved. BMPR2 has about 1040 amino acids and contains two domains, Activin receptor Domain and Protein Kinase Domain. Activin receptor is a receptor which binds activin. Protein Kinase functions as an on/off switch for many cellular processes, such as metabolism, cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and differentiation. Abnormal phosphorylation can cause cancer.
Throughout model organisms, BMPR2 is well conserved except C. elegans which does not have Activin receptor Domain because it does not have a heart.
GenomeNet was used to search BMPR2 Protein Sequence motifs. Human BMPR2 Protein has only one motif, Protein Kinase ATP (PS00107), which is related with Protein Kinase ATP-binding region signature.
